One Hour Smile is a piece that documents in real time the slow arduous break down of my smile. It's a piece about, empathy, self-awareness and how as social animals we learn how to read one another.
A couple years after creating the initial piece, I decided that I wanted to create a "life piece" where I ultimately had no control when it finished because it would be complete whenever I died. I figured if I had a long life I could probably get around 7 entire "One Hour Smiles" if I made one new installment every 10 years. In this way, the piece is a meditation on the totality of alife and one's experiences minute by minute.
