Critique via caricature, these simultaneously fantastic and realistic guns and rifles allude to the excess of arms as consumerist items flooding society in a manner that has perverted the Constitution and the Second Amendment. They are carefully drawn and cut out to resemble toys, calling attention to the disparity between the treatment of assault rifles as playful objects and their very real potential to kill. These works investigate how we are taught ideas and values from a young age and into adulthood, seeping into all aspects of our culture. Deviations from the societal norms created by power structures result in punitive action, and in this contemporary panopticon we become not only the oppressed, but our own oppressors regulating our own behaviors.
